The ancient texts that document the traditions of Kamakhya

The most important scriptures or texts related to the Kamakhya Temples' Complex of Nilachala hills are preserved across centuries of scholarship. The original copies of Kalikapurana, Yogini Tantra, Kamrup Yatra Paddhati and digitized copies of Kamakhya Tantra and Kamrupiya Nibandha Tantra are in possession of the Foundation.

9th Century CE

Kalikapurana

Contains elaborate details on the Kamakhya Temples' Complex and Kamrup. One of the most comprehensive texts about the sacred traditions and rituals of Kamakhya.

16th Century CE

Yogini Tantra

Contains elaborate details on the Kamakhya Temples' Complex and Kamrup, with extensive information about tantric practices and the religious tradition.

16th–17th Century CE

Kamakhya Tantra

Contains elaborate details specifically on the Kamakhya Temples' Complex and its unique tantric traditions.

16th Century CE

Kamrupiya Nibandha Tantra

Contains elaborate information on the Kamakhya Temples' Complex and Kamrup, documenting ritual procedures and spiritual practices.

1835 CE
